Juneteenth Events
On June 19th, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Lambda Omicron Omega Chapter proudly honored the spirit of Juneteenth through service and civic engagement.
Members volunteered across three Juneteenth celebrations throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties, providing voter education, assisting residents with voter registration, and helping community members verify their voter registration status in preparation for upcoming elections.
From the 2026 Manatee Juneteenth Community Festival Family Reunion, to the 2026 Newtown Juneteenth Festival, and the WBTT 4th Annual Juneteenth Arts Festival, our members were committed to ensuring that every eligible voter had access to the information and resources needed to make their voices heard.
Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not just a historical milestone—it is an ongoing responsibility. By educating, engaging, and empowering voters, we continue to honor the sacrifices of those who fought for our rights while helping build a stronger future for generations to come.
Together, we are turning awareness into action and service into impact.
One Chapter. Three Events. Countless Conversations. A Lasting Difference.

Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month

A gentle reminder that your mental health matters—every single day. Take a moment to check in with yourself, extend grace where needed, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Strength isn’t just pushing through—it’s also knowing when to pause, reflect, and care for your well-being.
Let’s continue to break the stigma, have real conversations, and create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Reverend Ron Shipp and his lovely wife, Sister Lena, for their gracious hospitality and spiritual guidance. Our Chapter President, Theresa Scott, delivered powerful and eloquent remarks highlighting Alpha Kappa Alpha’s 118-year legacy of service, emphasizing the enduring bonds of sisterhood that unite us, strengthen our purpose, and propel our commitment to uplifting the communities we serve—now and for generations to come. During his inspiring sermon, Rev. Shipp spoke to the importance of intentionality, encouraging us to reach back and lift others during times of uncertainty.
